‘Tis the Season at IGB

It’s nearly here and we can’t wait!

This Sunday 4th December at 3pm we’re hosting A Christmas Singalong in Hippodrome Square with the fabulously festive local treasure that is the Choir with No Name!

Wrap up warm and meet us on the rainbows in front of the Hippodrome at 3pm and join in the fun.  Then at 4pm, you’re invited to join us around the corner Upstairs at the Loft for minced pies, drinks and a bit of Christmas fun.

(If the December weather doesn’t cooperate, our singalong will be moved to the Loft at 3pm – check our website for updates).

If you haven’t heard of the Choir with No Name, they are a long-running choir made up of folks who have experienced homelessness and marginalisation singing the most joyful and life-giving music.  Here’s a little featurette that Comic Relief did about Birmingham’s Choir with No Name at Christmas a few years back!

On Sunday, 11th December at 3pm we’re hosting an All-Ages Inclusive Rainbow ‘Christingle’ gathering with music, story-telling, crafts, candles and cake upstairs at the Loft!

This fun, interactive and light-hearted Christmas gathering is for everyone – single and partnered, kids and grown-ups, families of all shapes and sizes, people of all faiths and none…

Have you heard of a Rainbow Christingle? (Probably not, because we made it up!)  Perhaps unsurprisingly, we’re putting our own new inclusive spin on an old Christmas tradition!

On Thursday, 15th December get cosy at home and join us on Zoom for a festive book club chat about Dickens’ classic Christmas novella: A Christmas Carol. You are welcome to join us whether or not you’ve read the book. Register online here. You can read the book for free online here. Here is an abridged version of the book. OR you could listen to the book being read here. (Or just watch the Muppets version).

Join us on Sunday, 18th December upstairs at 3pm for a Queer twist on the traditional Nine Lessons & Carols at the Loft in Brum’s Gay Village. A beautiful way to celebrate together in the run up to Christmas.

On Christmas Eve (Saturday, 24th December) there are two opportunities to connect with folks from IGB, depending on where you find yourself!  A group of us will be gathering at the Loft at 3pm (we’ll be downstairs in the Restaurant back room) for a short time of reflection and connection.  And at 7pm, we’ll be having a Zoom gathering and check-in – register here.

NOTE: The Loft is closed on Christmas Day (25 December) and New Years Day afternoon (1 January), so our first big gathering of the new year will be on Sunday, 8th January at 3pm!
