This Sunday we're gathering at Five Ways for Real

This Sunday we're gathering at Five Ways for Real Talk & Afternoon Tea. Joel Wilson will be leading a discussion about the future. How far into the future can you imagine? It can be daunting. Yet our faith is tied up in future hope, so it's good to periodically think about the future with that hope in front of us.

Considering 'Christian Communities in the 23rd Century' will exercise our imaginations, and hopefully stretch how we pray and plan.

It will remind us too that we're in the middle of the story - that God never gives up on humans - past, present or future. We'll discuss these questions & more over food & drinks

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions over food. We'll be livestreaming our time together, and there will be an optional Zoom table discussion for those who'd like to join in from home.

NAMING CELEBRATION

Our names hold a big significance for who we are. Affirming and validating our identity. For those changing their name, this is a meaningful step in their journey. This is a step we would like to welcome, acknowledge and honour. In the Bible there are many examples of people being gifted new names. Sarai becomes Sarah, Abram, becomes Abraham and Jacob becomes Israel.

For those who trans or gender non-conforming a change of name can be an important step in being recognised for their true and full selves. It is an important mark of recognition and can begin a new journey.

Our names also give us a sense of who we are, where we belong, our place in the world. Names have deep cultural and personal significance. Therefore there may be many reasons a person might choose a new name for themselves. A new way signify and reveal who they are.

Whether or not you are a regular part of our IGB community or are a person of faith or not, we would like to invite you to come and celebrate your new name with us. On the first Sunday of April we’re having a very special gathering where we will have cake, music, and a special naming ceremony.

This season is a time to celebrate new life, new beginnings and we hope that you will come to share that with us.
