This is a round-up of what’s coming up at New Inclusive Church Birmingham over the next month or so.
Our first Community Worship Gathering of 2020 is happening this Sunday, 12th January at 4pm at the Church at Carrs Lane (Birmingham City Centre). We’ll be looking at ‘Epiphany’ and what it looks like to experience moments of fresh understanding of God at work in us (individually and as NIC). As usual, you can get here from 3:30 for cake and a drink!
On Sunday, 26th of January at 4pm we’ll meet for our Bring & Share Community Meal. Before we sit down to eat, Sam Lowe will be leading us in an important discussion looking at how we as NIC can grow in supporting LGBTQ+ people (within our church but also beyond) as we strive to make our church a safe place for anyone to explore or grow in faith. This is a discussion for all of us (whether we are LGBTQ+ or aim to be allies). Sam has many years of experience in leading these kinds of conversations and it will be exciting to see where this will lead … We’ll have Holy Communion together after our discussion. If you are able, sign up here to bring something to contribute to our shared meal.
At 3pm on the 26th (just BEFORE) our January Bring & Share Meal, we’d like to invite anyone who is interested to come a long for a short time of Prayer for HM Prison Birmingham (in Winson Green). If this is something that tugs at your heart, join us to pray for the prisoners, chaplains (who carry heavy burdens), those working with families of prisoners and ex-offenders and also for the reformation of the justice system as a whole. Our next Book & Podcast Discussion Club is happening at 4pm on Sunday 2 February (rear meeting room at the Church at Carrs Lane) and we’ll be discussing Peter Enns’ The Sin of Certainty: Why God Desires our Trust more than our ‘Correct’ Beliefs. It’s very NIC subject matter! (It’s cheapest on Kindle … let us know if you need help getting a copy). Come along, whether or not you’ve finished the book! 🙂
Our NIC Small Group gatherings are kicking off again for 2020. We’ve got 3 groups around Birmingham, a monthly gathering in Worcester and are looking at potentially forming a new group in Coventry!
