Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of self-reflection, honesty, and re-alignment, mirroring Jesus’s 40 days of fasting in the desert.
New Inclusive Church will be setting up a few prayer stations in the city centre (train stations, Bullring, etc.) and offering ashes and conversation to people going to work, on lunch break, and leaving work.
This reflects our commitment to be an inviting church (going where people actually are) — not just a welcoming church (hoping they will find us in our space).
We want to be a church in the streets, meeting people with a moment of grace, demonstrating the inclusive love of God to our beloved city.
We’ll be forming different teams of three (an asher, a sign holder, an information passer-outer), each of whom will serve for 45 minutes – an hour at one place in the city centre.
For now, let us know if you’re interested and we’ll have a sign-up schedule in early February!
