On Sunday, 25th April we’re excited to welcome Liberation Theologian & CofE Ordinand Rajiv Sidhu to help us think about how our diverse identities intersect and the challenge and beauty that can bring to communities that long to include and seek justice together … even when it is hard.
This is part of our new series looking at the practice of inclusion and what it does/ can look like in a variety of areas of life and faith. The clue is in the name, but we see inclusion as a core part of our spirituality and our justice-seeking as a community.
You can watch today’s 4pm gathering on YouTube or on Facebook Live. We’re ALSO looking forward to Rajiv Sidhu joining us for a live Q&A on Zoom at 5:15. (You will need to be logged into a Zoom account with a public account name in order to access this Zoom. Meeting ID: 853 6699 5635, Passcode: 123674).
Song – Kaleidoscope (IGB Band)
Question for Sharing (Lu):
What is something about you that others might not know? It could be something you’ve done, an element of your personality, or a secret dream for the future.
This is a prayer from Martin Luther King Jr.
When our eyes do not see the gravity of racial justice,
Shake us from our slumber and open our eyes, O Lord.
When out of fear we are frozen into inaction,
Give us a spirit of bravery, O Lord.
When we try our best but say the wrong things,
Give us a spirit of humility, O Lord.
When the chaos of this dies down,
Give us a lasting spirit of solidarity, O Lord.
When it becomes easier to point fingers outwards,
Help us to examine our own hearts, O Lord.
God of truth, in your wisdom, Enlighten Us.
God of hope in your kindness, Heal Us.
Creator of All People, in your generosity, Guide Us.
Racism breaks your heart,
break our hearts for what breaks yours, O Lord.
Ever present God, you called us to be in relationship with one another and promised to dwell wherever two or three are gathered. In our community, we are many different people; we come from many different places, have many different cultures. Open our hearts that we may be bold in finding the riches of inclusion and the treasures of diversity among us. We pray in faith. Amen.
