IGB Discussion: The Bible is Not a Sex Book

We’re switching things up over the summer, and on Sunday, 20th August, instead of a typical gathering, we’re hosting a discussion called “The Bible is Not a Sex Book”
We’ll be watching progressive Bible scholar Dr. Anna Sieges-Beal (of the Bible for Normal People) talk us through a survey of sexual ethics in the Bible (via video). And then we’ll be talking about it together in a shame and judgement-free space over drinks.
Have you ever wondered if there is a difference between the sexual ethics described in the Bible versus what you might have been TOLD the Bible definitively says about sex? (For many of us these are two very different things.)
All are welcome to join the discussion – we hope this will be a helpful and healing conversation for all of us who have questions about this subject, whether queer or straight/cis).

We’re a diverse, justice-seeking, LGBTQIA+ affirming church for ALL based in Brum’s Gay Village (City Centre). We’re a community learning to practice God’s radical love & inclusion the best we can.
Our largest worship gathering happens on the 1st Sunday of each month and will also be livestreamed to YouTube. Our other Sunday gatherings tend to be lower-key, centred around spiritual connection & conversation.
We’ll have friendly people and signs to point you in the right direction – you can go straight upstairs via the entrance under the Pride House sign, or go through the main Loft entrance to take the lift upstairs.
The Loft is in the heart of the Gay Village. It is fully accessible and a short distance from New Street Station and city centre Bus Routes.
For those who may be driving in, you may be able to find free parking on the street (as it is Sunday) but you can also pay for parking at the Arcadian. If you haven’t already, please do check that your vehicle complies with the clean air zone (or you may be charged).
