We’re so excited to be hosting our very first (but we’re sure annual) Dolly Church on Sunday, 21st January 2024 at the Old Rep Theatre in honour of Dolly Parton’s birthday! We think that the life, music, values and spirituality of Queen Dolly make this world a better place … and that is something to celebrate and learn from!

You are invited to wear wigs and rhinestones – be fabulous and get Dolly-ed up. Get as glam as you are comfortable.

Speaking of fabulous … we’ll be joined by our fabulous guest speaker/ presenter self-confessed Dolly superfan Trey Hall! Originally hailing from Memphis, Trey, with his husband Jonathan, was one of the original instigators of Inclusive Gathering Birmingham. Trey and Jonathan now live in London where they are both innovating Methodist ministers. Trey is a prolific podcast host and has been a regular contributor to ‘Pause for Thought’ on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. We’re thrilled to have him back with us in Brum for this very special event!

We’re also thrilled to announce our special musical guests:

We’re also hosting an AFTERPARTY immediately following the main event at Sidewalk Gay Bar (just a short walk from the theatre). Join us from 5pm for Dolly-themed drink deals and a drag cabaret at 6pm with Ibi Profane & Raphael Hoe. For those short on cash, there will be a tab open and IGB will cover soft drinks, so please don’t miss out on the fun.

Dolly Church event has been inspired by the visionary creativity of our friends at St John’s Presbyterian in San Francisco and we’re so excited to be bringing it to the UK … we declare that hence forth the Sunday closest to Dolly Parton’s birthday shall be called #DollyChurchSunday at Inclusive Gathering Birmingham.
