Christmas Baking Session on Zoom

We had so much fun baking pumpkin pie together on Zoom in November that we’re scheduling another group baking session.

This time, we’re going to have TWO options … and if you’d like to you can do both! (Or just come and hang out)

Option 2: Gingerbread People Cookies* (you will need to make the dough ahead of time as it will need to chill ahead … but we can do our cookie cutting, baking and decorating together) – There is a video in the discussion section of my friend Suzanne who is a professional baker kindly showing us HOW to make the gingerbread dough. Here’s your shopping & equipment list! Both recipes have lots of overlapping ingredients:

EVERYONE NEEDS
plain flour
baking soda
ground ginger
ground cinnamon
ground nutmeg
brown sugar
salt
An oven

VEGAN SPICE CAKE BAKERS NEED:
white granulated sugar
1 medium beetroot (really!)
2 tea bags (black, breakfast or chai)
vegetable oil
vinegar
ground allspice
ground cloves
vanilla essence
Icing Sugar (optional)
Large bowl and spoon
2 loaf tins, 2 round baking tins or a casserole dish … or event cupcake tins.
Optional: parchment paper, loaf liners or cupcake cases

GINGERBREAD PEOPLE BAKERS NEED:
Butter (250g)
black treacle or molasses
SOFT Brown Sugar
eggs
‘people’ cookie cutter or a different shape (or just a glass!)
A mixer (standing or hand mixer) or just some muscle
baking sheets
parchment paper
coloured writing icing (multi-pack of colours) and any cookie ‘bling’
rolling pin (or clean wine bottle if you don’t have one)
